CLIMATE RESILIENCE

Building Emissions Performance Standards (BEPS) Program Implementation

Seattle Office of Sustainability & Environment

Project Overview

BvP is supporting the City of Seattle in launching its ambitious Building Emissions Performance Standards program, designed to reduce carbon emissions from large buildings. Working with City Staff, our team secured $17.3 million in Department of Energy funding to implement this leading-edge initiative, with a specific focus on supporting disadvantaged building owners and advancing workforce development.

We're crafting dynamic communication strategies, powerful stakeholder engagement frameworks, and innovative program designs to drive high compliance rates and ensure fair, effective implementation. Key elements of the project include developing compelling key messages tailored for diverse audiences, designing eye-catching outreach materials, and organizing interactive workshops that bring stakeholders to the table. Our work emphasizes providing targeted support for low-income multifamily properties and buildings serving priority equity communities, while helping OSE build internal and external capacity through staff development, broader workforce development, and work planning.
