Community Outreach for Affordable Housing in Northeast Seattle

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Broadview Planning facilitated a community engagement process to help inform potential amendments to the City’s tree protection regulations. Seattle’s tree code seeks to balance the City’s interest in increasing the urban tree canopy with the vision for future growth and density described in its Comprehensive Plan. For the engagement process, Broadview Planning led a series of facilitated, focused stakeholder meetings to collect feedback and recommendations related to Seattle’s tree policies, including careful consideration of historic environmental justice issues. Broadview Planning then worked with City staff to develop proposed code amendments, complete a SEPA checklist, and help usher the recommended regulatory changes through the legislative process.
